Only an hour and a half away, in Keizer, Oregon, was the one and only In-N-Out burger in the entire state. The mecca of burgers.

Departure date in sight
As previously mentioned, we’ve pretty much been hardwired to the Southern California area (with just a couple short jaunts out to Sedona and Jerome, AZ.) while wrapping up some lingering doctory stuff (not serious, but ouchy) Finally, the last all clear appointments are on the books for this week, leaving Friday, the 23rd as our long-awaited departure date for points east.

Unfortunately, (on one hand) the ever lingering stay delayed us so long that now it’s July and it is HOT! Just about a week of 105 plus temps convinced me that heading east through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania and all the points up to New York, which was our eventual end-game destination, was no longer viable this late in the year. It’s just going to be too, too hot the entire way. We do really need to go as far as Tulsa for a non-delayable family visit, but our end-game destination has officially changed and we’ll be headed north to cooler climes of the upper midwest, South Dakota, Idaho and some Pacific Northwest time. We’ll give the New York trip another try early next spring,
Fortunately, (on the other hand) the nice thing about the landyacht lifestyle is we are nothing if not flexible. So, we’ll be headed east on the 40, (old Route 66) with stops scheduled in Williams, Flagstaff, Winslow, the Petrified Forest National Park, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and points east. We’re looking forward to being on the move again.
