Things are gonna happen.  It’s inevitable.  You plan, you back-up plan, and, (if you’re smart) you back-up plan your back-up plan.  Things are still gonna happen.  Our thing for this week was a little

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.

misadventure on a road that didn’t play out the way the maps and satellite views showed.  Heading down the road that was supposed to go to a nice boondocking spot, and the road is getting narrower and narrower.  I’m maybe a third of a mile in and see a sharp left turn and a steep climb.  My choice is to continue, taking a real chance that the road gets worse, there’s no place to turn around and I have to back out from even further in, having to deal with the steep drop and the sharp turn, or live to fight another day and start to back out now.  Easy choice.  As I start to back out a truck comes up behind me, (good timing) and the awesomely helpful and knowledgeable local lets me know that there really isn’t a place further up to turn around and he’s pretty sure my rig is a bit too big to make it.   So, good choice then.  But, now I’m backing up on a narrow, dark, wooded road for a third of a mile (ish) with a 33ft 5th wheel.   My wife assures me I did a fantastic job.  :)

Good times…   :)
